Posted on: May 15th, 2008 Blip - What are you listening to?
Have your heard of Blip? It’s a new service created by the people at Fuzz. Blip is a place where you can post up music that you are listening too. With a twitter like interface, it’s very simple to post, see what your friends are listening to, and also see what the rest of the world is listening to.
The great thing about Blip is that your also able to make a twitter like post whenever you put up a new song. People use it to describe what the song is like, describe what they are doing, or simply post anything that could possibly be on their mind.
Being that I am a designer, and the design of sites I use is pretty important to me, I must reflect some of my thoughts on the aesthetics of the service. I do enjoy how the layout has a twitter/pounce like structure. It makes it easy for people to simply jump in and start using it. However, since this is for music, I feel a more contrasting and vibrant color scheme would give it more justice.
Additionally, I do think the logo needs some reworking. I know it’s supposed to be similar in looks to the feed symbol, but I feel the speaker must be bigger or at least a different speaker symbol for the logo to stand out and also for people to know right off the bat that it’s for music.
In all, Blip is a very cool idea and service. I would recommend it to people who love music as much as keeping up with others.
