Facts & Beliefs:

  1. My name is Tim Benzinger.
  2. I can’t be 100% sure if my name is Tim or if it’s Brian.
  3. I am a Creative Director at Parallel. Though, creative direction is just one of my roles.
  4. I wear more masks than I own.
  5. I got my start with design at 10 years of age. I was 14 when I met my first client. I am now 21.
  6. Being young has its downfalls. Being old has its downfalls.
  7. I believe that design is the only field of specialty that allows you to truly connect yourself with any other industry.
  8. In order to design for someone, you have to understand their business.
  9. I am a self taught designer, though I do have an Associates Degree in Visual Communications.
  10. Ideally, when I grow old, I will know absolutely everything. Though, I’d be fine with just knowing all the answers to Jeopardy.
  11. My biggest secret isn’t even mine.
  12. I do not consider myself a great designer… otherwise, this site would not exist.
  13. I discovered that connections with people inspire me… otherwise, this site would not exist.
  14. I like talking to strangers. It intrigues me that you, like I, were taught not to. Surely we must have more in common.
  15. I am not a fan of personal conversations through email.
  16. I often use design to express myself. If I could not design, I would use a telephone.
  17. The choice between good music and good food is a no brainer. I would go with the music.
  18. I sometimes get defensive if someone discovers a song I discovered first.
  19. I don’t believe everything I read. Most books only have one main purpose; to turn a profit. Educating others from it’s contents is a bonus. I do enjoy a good fiction.
  20. Sometimes I wish I weren’t a designer.

Things I have learned:

  1. Keys open doors… and the person who now has my flat panel HDTV used a screwdriver.
  2. Procrastination works.
  3. Music can change a design.
  4. The game of poker is always a good metaphor to use.
  5. I was dealt a good hand and didn’t know it until someone folded.
  6. Computers are a necessity, but my hands can do more. (Not a poker metaphor)
  7. Solving problems often create problems.
  8. The customer is only right when they know what they are talking about.
  9. There are more important things than work.
  10. I need a vacation.
